Navigating the transition to an electrified future, Nissan is introducing its highly anticipated Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV) version of the popular Rogue compact SUV. As the brand's first plug-in hybrid model in the US market in years, the new Rogue PHEV aims to bridge the gap between traditional gasoline vehicles and all-electric driving, offering a blend of efficiency, power, and practicality. To help prospective buyers understand what to expect from this new addition to the Nissan lineup, we've compiled a list of the most frequently asked questions about the release, performance, and features of the new Rogue Plug-In Hybrid.
The 2026 Nissan Rogue Plug-In Hybrid is expected to go on sale in the US, with a targeted release timeframe around January 2026, though some reports suggest an initial rollout toward the end of 2025. This model will precede a fully redesigned Rogue featuring Nissan's e-Power full-hybrid system, which is anticipated for the 2027 model year
While official EPA estimates are pending, industry reports and speculation suggest the Rogue PHEV, which is expected to share its powertrain with the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, will offer an all-electric driving range of approximately 38 to 40 miles
As a plug-in hybrid, the Rogue PHEV will be chargeable at home using a standard 120-volt outlet (Level 1) or a faster 240-volt charger (Level 2). Crucially, the Rogue PHEV is also expected to offer DC fast charging capability, which is a feature not common among compact PHEVs, allowing for a faster charge when on the go.
The powertrain is expected to consist of a gasoline engine paired with two electric motors, delivering a combined output of around 248 horsepower. This would make it the most powerful model in the Rogue lineup. All-wheel drive (AWD) is also anticipated to come standard with the PHEV system.
The new Rogue Plug-In Hybrid is set to compete directly with other compact plug-in hybrid SUVs in the market, including the Mitsubishi Outlander Hybrid, Toyota RAV4 Prime, Hyundai Tucson PHEV, Kia Sportage PHEV, and Ford Escape PHEV.
